Best Poultry Feeders
-
3.5 Litre Poultry Feeder: Standing at 535mm high, this feeder holds approximately 2.6kg of poultry feed. It’s also an excellent choice for young birds, suitable for chicks from around 5 weeks of age.
-
4.7 Litre Poultry Feeder: With a height of 730mm, this feeder holds about 3.7kg of poultry feed, making it ideal for larger flocks.
Choosing the Right Size
Selecting the right poultry feeder depends on the space available and the height at which it will be mounted:
- Space Limitations: The 3.5 Litre Feeder is perfect for coops with limited vertical space, such as small chicken tractors or compact coops.
- Mounting Requirements: Feeders should be mounted at least 50mm off the ground. Each feeder comes with three hooks, but only the top and bottom hooks are used for mounting. The middle hook supports modular design and part interchangeability.

Colour Options
- White: This option is more affordable due to the lower cost of materials.
- Red: A bit more expensive, red feeders are preferred for their vibrant colour, but the choice of colour doesn’t impact the feeder’s functionality or capacity.
Poultry Feeder Capacity and Management
A single feeder can support 6-8 birds under typical conditions, which influences how often you’ll need to refill it:
- Refill Frequency: A 3.5 Litre Feeder lasts about 4-5 days, while a 4.7 Litre Feeder can last around 6-7 days, depending on the type of feed and your birds’ needs.
- Recommended Feed: We suggest using high-quality feeds like Laucke Mills Showbird Breeder MP and Red Hen 17, which are typically consumed at about 90 grams per bird per day. Cheaper grain mixes might increase consumption to 140-160 grams per bird per day due to nutritional deficiencies. If you live near Townsville, you can pick up chicken feed from our warehouse.
Installation Kits and Warranty
Each Dine-A-Chook poultry feeder includes:
- 2 x Steel Mounting Brackets
- 4 x Self-Tapping Screws, suitable for timber and light gauge sheet metal.
For wire mesh mounting, you can purchase a separate Wire Mesh Mounting Kit, which includes washers and bolts for secure installation.

Why Dine-A-Chook Poultry Feeders Are a Good Choice
Here’s why we believe our feeders are the best choice for your poultry:
- Industrial Quality: Our poultry feeders are designed to last a lifetime, made from UV-treated, industrial-grade ASA plastic. This material doesn’t degrade in the sun, ensuring your feeder stays strong for years.
- Safe and Contaminant-Free: Our feeders are BPA-free, lead-free, and free from other harmful contaminants. You can trust that your flock’s feed stays safe and clean.
- No Moving Parts: Our feeders are designed with a unique click-together system, meaning no screws, fasteners, or glue that can leak or fail. With no moving parts, these feeders won’t seize up, ensuring consistent performance over time.
- Opaque Design: The completely opaque design prevents feed from degrading or spoiling due to sun exposure, keeping it fresh and tasty for your flock.
