A. As a guide, this size is typically suited to around 4–6 hens depending on breed, diet and how much they free-range. For larger flocks, multiple feeders spaced around the coop often work better than one oversized feeder.

Q. Will my chickens use it straight away?

A. Most flocks work it out quickly. Cautious birds can take a little longer — especially if they’ve been bowl-fed. A simple tip is to remove other feed sources and give them time to adapt.

Q. What height should I install the feeder?

A. There’s no fixed height. Mount it so the bottom of the feeding opening aligns with the back of your chicken’s neck when she’s standing naturally. If you have mixed sizes, set it for your smaller birds.

Q. What type of feed works best?
