The Dine a Chook Automatic Chicken Feeder is made to save you money and stop feed wastage instantly. Our silo-inspired feeding bay prevents chickens thrashing as well as raking their feed mix. This means almost zero feed wasted on the ground. To further help, we recommend a pellet feed mix. Scratch feed mix is the one with all the colourful grains, corn etc. Chickens develop selective feeding when using scratch mixes. Such behaviour stops them from getting the essential nutrients they require as they are only eating what they like. Pellet mixes give them less choice and more essential nutrients. Our chicken feeder bay uses both horizontal and vertical paddle technology to prevent raking and wasted feed. This unique design makes our Automatic Chicken Feeder one of the best poultry feeders on the market.
Featuring rear moulded mounting hooks, the design is easy to install in minutes. Plus all our Feeders come with our free Dine a Chook Mounting Kit so you can install your Chicken Feeder on timber or metal.

Patent Pending Rain and Gutter System:
While some have tried to copy the concept of our rain hood and gutter system, the fact is that Dine a Chook has the best patented rain and gutter system. It works. It keeps your poultry feed from getting wet. Designed for the tropical rainfall of North Queensland, the Dine a Chook rain hood and gutter system keeps chicken feed dry even in the most torrential downpours. So regardless of weather conditions, you can count on Dine a Chook Chicken Feeders to keep the rain out.
Rodents in the Chicken Coop:
No matter what the marketing says, there is no such thing as a rodent proof chicken feeder. Even a rodent-resistant chicken feeder isn't failsafe. The best solution to rodents in the chicken coop is to stop them getting in there in the first place. A good coop management plan and a waste-reducing Dine a Chook Chicken Feeder that keeps feed off the ground where it attracts rodents will help make your coop more rodent resistant. For more feed going to your hens, and less feed going to pests, choose a Dine a Chook Feeder.
Benefits of a Dine a Chook Feeder vs. Hanging or Treadle Feeder
Hanging Feed Units: The main downside of hanging feeders is the feed waste - there is always food on the ground for rats and mice, costing you money. Not to mention the feed wastage when it rains! Rats are also able to climb down the chain into a hanging feeder.
Treadle Feeders: These are also not immune to rats. Working as a team, rats learn to stand on the step to open the feeder and access the feed. Treadle feeding units also let feed get wet when it rains, and the moving parts, such as hinges and springs, require regular maintenance and have a limited working life even then.
Don't be fooled by marketing claims. Dine a Chook Feeders are the most likely to prevent feed waste. Plus, with no moving parts, there is nothing to break or seize up, which is why your Dine a Chook Feeder with work for years!
Super Easy Installation:
Install your Dine a Chook Automatic ASA Feeder in minutes. The supplied Mounting Kit allows you to fit your feeder onto timber and colorbond. Kits are also available for wire mesh.

Where do you put a chicken feeder?
This will depend on if you have a large chicken run or a small enclosure. If you have a small coop then it is ideally placed either outside the door or just inside the door. To maximise the freshness of chicken feed you should put the feeder out of the sun and elements. In a large chicken run, depending on the size of the flock. you may put one feeder near the coop and another on the cage wire of the run in a shady position.
Difference between ASA and PVC plastic
Genuine Dine a Chook uses ASA thermoplastic. Compared to PVC, ASA is significantly more resistant to environment stress in the outdoors. It retains its gloss and resists cracking or deterioration in the elements far better that PVC. ASA is used in quality outdoor furniture because of its strength and durability in an outdoor environment. When buying genuine Dine a Chook you are buying the best in design as well as construction and materials.
The Top 5 Chicken Feeders for your chicken coop
Customers regularly ask us, "What are the Top Chicken feeders for your chicken coop." There really is no top 5. While a quality treadle feeder comes in second to the Dine a Chook, other feeders such as hopper feeders, open trough feeders and galvanised gravity-fed chicken feeders allow feed to get wet. Most also allow chickens to contaminate the feed with faeces, or spill the feed on the ground where it becomes contaminated. This is a common way for diseases to spread in the chicken coop. These poorly designed feeders also invite rats and mice to the coop because there is always feed on the ground for vermin to eat. When you consider that a good quality treadle feeder will eventually rust and has parts that will need replacing, the Dine a Chook is a clear winner.
So forget about looking at inferior chook feeders, join the Dine a Chook family. Save money and buy the best first time round.
