    Worth it

Posted by anonymous on Feb 13, 2018

I got these just before I went on vacation for Christmas. We had a plague of mice and since installing these the mice have mostly disappeared. They're eating the compost now. Not getting any plagues of pigeons either like I used to. I didn't realise how much food was being wasted before I installed these.

Recently I had a problem with a whole flock of ibis eating out of them, but I seem to have resolved that by positioning the feeder further inside the cage and closing the door most of the way, leaving just enough of an opening for the chickens to get through.

I have a mixture of pekin bantams and regular-sized chooks, so I had to position the feeder and drinker quite low to the ground, but the bantams can reach in fine. They have these built-in hooks at the back, which I found I could easily tie to the cage with cable ties. The chickens took a couple of days to learn how the feeders work, but they're quite used to them now. And each chicken is getting their fill of feed without being pushed off by other chickens.

The food in the feeder stays dry even in stormy weather thanks to the hood and the sealed container. I've had these for a couple of months and so far they show no sign of disintegrating in the heat of the sun (unlike some products I used to use).

Will purchase again in the future.

    This product works very well

Our chickens love this and they learned to eat/drink from them very quickly. It was easy to assemble and the containers last for a long time.

    The feeder is brilliant

Posted by Donna on Apr 19, 2017

We purchased the feeder on the recommendation of a friend who knew a bit about backyard chickens. Although I balked a little at the price initially it has absolutely been worth it with no waste and managing the risk of vermin that was worrying one of our neighbours. Absolutely love this product and can't recommend it highly enough.

Wish I could give it 10 stars!

Outstanding product. If you have ever had to mess with standard chicken feeders and the waste, clean up, rain destroying feed because it molds, then your in for a real treat. Best by far these feeders won't let you down. Even my 4 week old chicks used it (just had to make it low enough). They will pay for themselves in feed alone not to mention almost no work. Paid for shipping to USA and worth every penny. Do it for you, trust me you won't be disappointed.

Just received mine and unpacked the kit.. I took it out to the girls (I have 3 chooks) and filled the containers and attached the feeder and waterer to the wire.. Took me all of 5 minutes.. All girls ran straight to them and started feeding... so far so good.. the spoggies will have to go hungry from now on. Thanks for a great Aussie product..

Absolutely brilliant products, gone from a perpetual mess to as good as zero wastage, only thing going hungry are the pigeons. :-)

Original water container is still there but they don't touch it, way prefer yours.

Thank you for an excellent product, will recommend to all.

    Back for another set

Posted by Wendy on Dec 22, 2014

As a new chicken owner I have been experimenting with a number of different types. I purchased the mini kit a number of months ago but needed to wait until the chicks grew to a reasonable height that I could permanently install it. I installed it last week and hung the old feeders right next to it; the girls and boys found the dine-a-chook within half an hour and were quick to work out how to use them; now they are pushing each other out of the way as they prefer these. Added bonus is that my German Shepherd dog (who likes to hang out with the chickens) can't knock the feed/water out of these. Bottom line, I'm back for more.
