Why our Chicken Feeders are best

Unlike treadle feeders or trough-like feeders, the Dine-A-Chook Feeder does not have any moving parts. Also it is rain proof so your feed will not get wet in the rain. Of most importance, our feeder keeps the chickens out of the feed. Chickens are their own worst enemy when it comes to feed contamination! These inquisitive creatures are more than happy to hop about in the feed, spreading the dirt and fecal matter on their feet into what they are about to eat.

By keeping your birds out of their feed and keeping the rain out and the feed dry you will have a chicken feeder that is more hygienic with less attraction to rodents.

Difference between ASA and PVC plastic

Genuine Dine-A-Chook uses ASA thermoplastic. Compared to PVC, ASA is significantly more resistant to environmental stress in the outdoors. It retains its gloss and resists cracking or deterioration in the elements far better than PVC. Quality outdoor furniture uses ASA because of its strength and durability in an out-of-doors environment. When buying genuine Dine-A-Chook, you are buying the best in design as well as construction and materials.

The Dine-A-Chook Difference

We had chickens long before we started Dine-A-Chook, and we still do! We understand the problems that backyard chicken keepers face and our goal is to provide solutions.

That is why Dine-A-Chook Chicken Feeders and Drinkers stand out from the competition: Our products have been extensively tested in Australian backyards, including our own! Our patented innovations and unique design features really work to make backyard chicken keeping easier.

We know how important good coop management is. A clean, dry coop, and uncontaminated feed and water, are essential for poultry health. Our Feeders reduce waste, keeping feed dry and off the floor. And our Waterers keep water clean and prevent spillage.

Dine-A-Chook Feeders and Drinkers are made in Australia, supporting Aussie jobs. And we use genuine Lubing Drinker Outlets from Germany because they are the best for poultry. Our products are built to last and come with an exclusive guarantee. Tested in the harsh Australian climate, don’t run over them with a tractor and we bet you won’t need to buy another Feeder or Drinker again!

FAQ

Q. How many chickens will each feeder suit?

A. As a guide, each large feeder is typically suited to around 6–8 hens, depending on breed, diet, and how much they free-range. With a twin pack, spacing the feeders apart helps reduce crowding and ensures more even access for the flock.

Q. Will my chickens use it straight away?

A. Most flocks work it out quickly. Cautious birds can take a little longer — especially if they’ve been bowl-fed. Removing other feed sources and allowing time to adapt usually helps.

Q. What height should the feeders be installed?

A. There’s no fixed height. Mount each feeder so the bottom of the feeding opening aligns with the back of your chicken’s neck when she’s standing naturally. If you have mixed sizes, set them for your smaller birds.

Q. What type of feed works best?

A. Quality complete feeds such as crumble and pellets flow most consistently and help reduce selective eating. Grain or scratch mixes — particularly those containing molasses — can clump in humid conditions and may restrict flow.

Q. Does this feeder stop rats and mice?

A. The design is vermin-resistant, not vermin-proof. It helps by reducing feed on the ground (the main attraction), but established rodent problems still require trapping or baiting alongside good coop hygiene.

Q. How do I clean the feeders?

A. The base cap unscrews for cleaning access. Most feeders don’t need frequent cleaning with good-quality feed, but it’s worth inspecting periodically and cleaning as needed with warm soapy water. Rinse and allow them to fully dry before refilling.

Q. Can other birds use these feeders?

A. Yes. Customers also use these feeders for other poultry such as ducks and geese. The main consideration is mounting height so the bird can eat comfortably without stretching or crouching.

Warranty

This product includes a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty covering Dine-A-Chook manufactured components.

Exclusions: Normal cosmetic wear (including colour fading), rodent damage, and damage caused by incorrect installation or misuse.

Rear mounting hooks are covered only when the feeders are installed using the supplied brackets, with weight evenly distributed across both hooks. The customer is responsible for transit costs relating to rear-mounting hook damage occurring more than 3 months after purchase.

Further terms and conditions apply. Please refer to our warranty page for full details.
