"Dine-A-Chook are very easy to deal with, delivery is very quick and my chooks love their Mealworms."
Why 850g is our best seller
Big enough to be worthwhile, small enough to stay fresh. One resealable bag, no fuss. Most customers with 3–8 birds find this size hits the mark perfectly.
If you're trying mealworms for the first time or restocking your regular supply, this is the one.
Our mealworms typically test at 53–55% protein. We guarantee a minimum of 50% — among the highest in Australia.
We've worked with the same supplier since the beginning. Vegetarian, GMO-free diet. Dried immediately after harvest to lock in nutrition.
When your flock needs extra protein
Mealworms aren't just treats — they're functional nutrition for key moments in your flock's year.
Feathers are 85% protein. Extra mealworms during moult help hens recover faster.
When production increases in spring, protein demands rise. Mealworms fill the gap.
High-protein treats help chickens maintain body condition when it's cold.

How many mealworms are in an 850g bag?
Approximately 24,000 mealworms. The exact count varies slightly as mealworms are a natural product, but you're getting roughly 28 mealworms per gram.
How should I store dried mealworms?
Keep the resealable bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A pantry or cupboard works perfectly. Sealed properly, they'll stay fresh for 12 months. Some customers refrigerate them for even longer storage, but it's not required.
What's special about your 50% protein guarantee?
Not all dried mealworms are equal. Protein content varies based on diet and processing. Our mealworms typically test at 53–55% protein, and we guarantee a minimum of 50%. Many cheaper alternatives test significantly lower.
Can I feed these to reptiles and wild birds?
Absolutely. Our dried mealworms are 100% natural with no additives — suitable for chickens, ducks, wild birds, reptiles, fish, and any other insect-eating animals. Same high-protein quality regardless of what you're feeding.
Is 850g enough for my flock?
The 850g bag is our most popular size for backyard flocks of 3–8 birds using mealworms as a regular supplement. If you have a larger flock or go through mealworms quickly, our 2.55kg bulk pack offers better value per gram.
Why do my chickens go crazy for mealworms?
Chickens are natural insect hunters — mealworms trigger their foraging instincts. The high protein and fat content also makes them incredibly palatable. Most chicken keepers find mealworms are the number one treat their flock responds to.
Do you ship Australia-wide?
Yes — we ship to all Australian states and territories. Orders are dispatched from Brisbane and typically arrive within 2–7 business days depending on your location. Check the Shipping tab for delivery estimates to your area.
