What’s in the box
Three 850g bags, each one sealed. We pack it as three bags rather than one big one so you only ever have one open at a time; the other two sit sealed in the cupboard until you get to them. Inside is dried mealworms and only dried mealworms: no preservatives, no additives, no coating. The mealworms are raised on a vegetarian, GMO-free diet and dried straight after harvest.

Because they’re a farmed insect, not a grain. Mealworms have to be raised, fed, harvested and then dried, and drying takes most of the weight out, so a kilo of dried mealworms started life as a good deal more than a kilo of live ones. Then they’re shipped and posted. What you can control is the bag size: the price per kilo drops as the bag gets bigger.

Dried are a lot easier to live with. Live mealworms are mostly water, which is why the dried ones carry more protein per gram, and they don’t need feeding, housing or a lid.
