Amprolium 200 Dosages:
1. Coccidiosis Prevention: Administer 5gm in a Dine A Chook 4 Litres Chicken drinker every four days. It is an effective way to break the cycle of coccidia and also helps your chicken develop tolerance and immunity against infection as they mature.
2. Coccidiosis Treatment: If you suspect a chicken of having Coccidiosis, you should separate the bird from the flock immediately. Then administer 5g every 4 litres of drinking water continuously for one week. You can achieve this quickly with a Dine A Chook Chicken Drinker as our drinkers are 4 litres in capacity. Once the bird is healthy, it may return to the flock. However, you should continue your usual administering every four days in the coop water supply.
Preparation of Amprolium 200: Add 5gm initially to 500mls of water, mix until dissolved and then add to drinking water supply and top up to 4lts.
Effect on Eggs: It is safe to eat eggs while using Amprolium 200.
What Causes Coccidiosis in Chickens?
Chickens develop coccidiosis via faeces of other infected chickens. For this reason, the infection spreads quickly. There are different strains of coccidiosis that affect other animals, but there is no evidence that a specific type of coccidia will jump from species to species.
The severity of the infection can vary depending on the amount of coccidia initially ingested and the overall health of the bird. Young birds are often more susceptible to coccidiosis because surviving birds will develop an immunity. The parasite is more likely to thrive in the warmer months. Transmission often occurs in broilers and layers. If you are a backyard chicken keeper, you should implement Amprolium 200 into your health plan for your poultry.
Symptoms of Coccidiosis in Chickens
Signs of coccidiosis can be detected early. Infected birds will often look dirty and also act weak. They can appear puffed up and have little movement. Chickens may also be pale and have a poor appetite. Advanced infections will manifest with bloody stool or other fecal discolouration.
Effective Treatment of Chicken Intestinal Parasites
To control coccidiosis in chickens, keep the living conditions clean and change the water supply frequently. Proper sanitation and nutrition are significant indicators in the prognosis of any coccidia infection. Treatment with Coccidiostat is essential at the first sign of infection.
