The Tefen Vacuum Release Valve – ½" BSPT is a critical component for poultry drinker systems, designed to prevent air locks and vacuum buildup that can compromise water delivery. This valve is mounted at the highest point of your system and automatically releases trapped air, ensuring consistent flow and reliable hydration for your flock.

Why Use a Vacuum Release Valve?

In gravity-fed or mains pressure systems, air can accumulate and restrict flow, especially in long or complex tubing layouts. Installing a vacuum release valve helps maintain proper system pressure and prevents vacuum-related issues that can stop water from reaching your drinkers.

Installation Tips

Install this valve vertically and ensure it's positioned higher than the water source. For easy connection to standard 8 mm drinker tubing, pair it with our BSPT Female Connector – 8mm x 1/2". We also offer this setup as a pre-assembled kit, fully sealed and thread-taped for leak-free performance. Use a cable tie to mount the valve securely in place.

Do I need a vacuum release valve in my poultry hydration system?

While not mandatory, it’s highly recommended—especially in longer or more complex systems. A vacuum release valve helps maintain steady flow by eliminating air pockets and pressure loss that can prevent water from reaching the end of the line.

Where should I install it?

This valve must be installed at the highest point of your drinker line. It works best when mounted vertically, with the outlet facing upward. Always position it above the water source to allow proper vacuum release.

How do I connect it to an 8 mm system?

Use the BSPT Female Connector – 8mm x 1/2" (Cat. No. 22046648088) to adapt the thread to your drinker tubing. We also offer a pre-assembled vacuum release kit that includes this connector, fully sealed with thread tape for easy installation.

Will this affect water pressure or flow?

No—if installed correctly, the vacuum release valve won’t affect flow. It simply vents trapped air to ensure consistent delivery through your system. It’s a simple addition that can significantly improve hydration reliability.
