We Started in a Garage
In 2011, we built our first chicken feeder by hand. There was no factory, no investors, no business plan — just a problem that needed solving and a stubborn refusal to accept "good enough."
For four years, every weekend looked the same: cutting components at the bandsaw, hand-cleaning each piece, assembling feeders on the garage floor, and packing orders into cardboard we'd collected from a local manufacturer because we couldn't afford boxes.
Our garage was our factory. Our living room was our warehouse. And somehow, we made it work.
We Watched Chickens to Understand Them
Early on, we did something most feeder manufacturers never bother with — we mounted GoPro cameras inside chicken coops and filmed hours of footage.
What we saw changed everything. Chickens don't eat neatly. They rake their beaks side to side. They flick feed forward. They pick out their favourites and scatter the rest. Any feed near an edge ends up on the ground. Every time.
That footage shaped every design decision we've made since. Our feeders aren't guesswork. They're engineered from direct observation of how chickens actually behave.
Australian Made — Not Just Assembled
Our Dine-A-Chook Chicken Feeders and Drinkers are injection moulded in Brisbane and hand-assembled in our Townsville warehouse. Every component is Australian made from Australian materials.
The material we use are certified BPA-free and lead-free. There's no glue, no questionable plastics, no shortcuts. When we say Australian made, we mean the whole thing — not just "assembled from imported parts."
