Free-range and backyard chickens should be dewormed twice a year, once in spring and once in autumn.

Product Instructions - How to deworm chickens

Kilverm dosage: 10 ml per 6 kg of bird bodyweight

Dilute Kilverm in fresh water at a rate of 1:20 - this means you should add 200 ml of water for every 10 ml of Kilverm.

  1. Withhold water from chickens for 2 hours before nightfall.
  2. Prepare medicated drinking water fresh in the morning and make it available at daybreak as the only source of water.
  3. Replace the medicated water when consumed or after 8 hours, whichever is first.
  4. Clean and disinfect the coop thoroughly 24 hours after treatment to avoid reinfection from eggs or larvae.
  5. Repeat treatment 2 weeks after the initial dose.

Do not treat chickens with Kilverm during hot weather. Avoid treating birds that are stressed or ill. Read and follow product instructions carefully.

How to prepare Kilverm medication
  1. Weigh your chickens. An average hen weighs 2-4 kg, but as weight can vary widely it is best to weigh your birds if you can.
  2. Calculate roughly how much your flock weighs.
  3. Divide flock weight by 6 kg and times the answer by 10 ml to calculate how many ml of Kilverm is needed for your flock.
  4. Measure the Kilverm into the Drinker.
  5. Dilute the Kilverm with fresh water at a rate of 1:20 (add 200 ml of water for every 10 ml of Kilverm).
  6. Stir well.

Tips & Troubleshooting

Can you eat the eggs of chickens treated with Kilverm?

There is no withholding period for the eggs of birds treated with Kilverm. This means that it is safe to eat the eggs of hens that have been treated with Kilverm, even on the day of treatment.

Is Kilverm safe to use on meat chickens?

Kilverm is safe to use on meat chickens, but it should not be used within 7 days of slaughter for human consumption.

My chickens aren't drinking the medicated water

When treating birds with Kilverm, ensure that you provide only the medicated drinking water. Chickens should not have access to any other drinking water until after the treatment period.

Water medicated with Kilverm can taste bitter. If your birds are not drinking the medicated water, dissolve some honey (a few spoonfuls) in some hot water and add this to the medicated mixture, stirring well. This will encourage your chickens to drink the medicated water.
