Healthy poultry flock supported by Dine-A-Chook Mega Mineral Supplement

Serious mineral support for serious flocks

When you're running a larger flock — whether you're breeding, showing, or simply keeping more birds than the average backyard — you need a supplement that scales. One that doesn't run out every few months. One that works across species.

The 1 Litre Mega Mineral is built for keepers who are in it for the long haul.

The economics make sense at scale

At $69.95, this is the most economical way to provide daily trace mineral support.

Why trace minerals matter for breeding and production

When you're breeding or maintaining a larger flock, small deficiencies compound quickly. Hatchability drops. Fertility declines. Feather quality suffers across the board. Birds recover more slowly from moult or stress.

The problem often isn't feed quality — it's what's missing from Australian soils. Selenium, zinc, copper, manganese — these trace minerals are chronically low in Australian-grown grains, regardless of the brand you're feeding.

Mega Mineral provides the full spectrum of trace minerals in a chelated, bioavailable form — designed for daily use to prevent deficiency rather than treat it after the damage is done.

Chelated minerals: Absorption that actually works

Many mineral supplements pass straight through — low bioavailability means wasted product and no real benefit.

Chelated minerals are bonded to amino acids — molecules the body recognises and absorbs readily. The minerals hitchhike into the bloodstream instead of being excreted unused.

This is why 4–5 drops per litre is sufficient — the chelated form delivers more mineral activity per drop than standard supplements.

What these minerals support

Critical functions for breeding flocks and production birds.

Healthy chicks hatching - fertility and hatchability support
ZINC • MANGANESE • IODINE • SELENIUM
Fertility & hatchability

For breeders, these trace minerals are non-negotiable. Zinc and manganese support embryo development. Selenium affects fertility in both hens and roosters. Iodine influences thyroid function and metabolic health.

Strong egg shells for hatchability and production
CALCIUM • PHOSPHORUS • MANGANESE
Shell integrity

Shell quality affects hatchability as much as egg production. Calcium alone isn't enough — phosphorus and manganese are required for proper calcium utilisation and shell membrane formation.

Show-quality glossy feathers
COPPER • SULPHUR • ZINC
Feather condition & colour

For show birds, feather quality is everything. Sulphur and copper are building blocks of keratin. Copper also affects pigmentation — deficiencies can cause colour fading in darker plumage.

Healthy active poultry flock
SELENIUM • VITAMIN E • COBALT
Immune resilience

Larger flocks face higher disease pressure. Selenium and Vitamin E work together as antioxidants supporting immune function. Cobalt is essential for B12 synthesis — linked to energy and recovery.

Bright clear eyes indicating poultry health
VITAMIN A • ZINC
Eye & respiratory health

Vitamin A supports mucous membranes — eyes, respiratory passages, and gut lining. Zinc plays a complementary role. Both are critical for flocks in enclosed housing.

Strong legs on growing poultry
CALCIUM • MAGNESIUM • PHOSPHORUS
Skeletal strength

Heavy breeds and production birds put significant load on their skeletal systems. Calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus work together to maintain bone density — especially critical for laying hens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from breeders and serious poultry keepers.

Will this improve hatchability in my breeding flock?

We can't make guarantees — every flock is different. What we can say is that zinc, manganese, selenium, and iodine all play documented roles in fertility and embryo development. If your birds are deficient in any of these (common with Australian-grown feeds), providing them gives the body what it needs. Many breeders report improvements, but results depend on what deficiencies existed in the first place.

Can I use it for show birds before competition?

Yes — in fact, feather condition is one of the most visible benefits of proper mineral nutrition. Copper affects pigmentation (important for darker plumage), while sulphur and zinc support keratin production for feather structure and sheen. For pre-show conditioning, you can increase to 6–8 drops per litre in the weeks leading up to competition.

Is this the same formula as the smaller bottles?

Yes — identical formula, just more of it. The 1 Litre is the most economical option for larger flocks or keepers who use it across multiple species. Same chelated minerals, same dosage rate, same results.

How do I dose for a large flock with multiple drinkers?

The easiest approach is to dose per litre as you fill each drinker — 4–5 drops per litre, regardless of container size. If you're using an automatic watering system, you can pre-mix a concentrate and add proportionally, or dose the header tank. Contact us if you need help calculating for your specific setup.

Can I use this for roosters too?

Absolutely. Selenium in particular plays a role in male fertility. If you're breeding, both your hens and roosters benefit from proper mineral nutrition. Same dose — just add it to their shared water supply.

Is it safe to use year-round, including during breeding season?

Yes — it's designed for daily, ongoing use. There's no withholding period. The chelated minerals are naturally-sourced and formulated for continuous supplementation. Many breeders actually increase the dose slightly (6–8 drops) during breeding season to support the extra demands on the birds' systems.

I keep multiple species — can they all share the same bottle?

Yes. The formula works for chickens, ducks, quail, turkeys, and even goats and horses. Just adjust the dose by species: poultry get 4–5 drops per litre (2–3 for quail, 6–8 for turkeys), while goats get 1–2ml per day and horses get 3ml per day. One bottle, multiple species.

What's the shelf life once opened?

24 months from manufacture, whether opened or not. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The liquid formulation remains stable — no degradation concerns with typical use timeframes.

How does this compare to powdered mineral supplements?

Liquid chelated minerals have significantly higher bioavailability than most powdered supplements. Powders often use inorganic mineral forms that pass through largely unabsorbed. The chelated form in Mega Mineral is bonded to amino acids, allowing better uptake at lower doses. It's also easier to administer consistently — just add to water rather than trying to ensure even distribution in feed.

Can I give too much?

The dose is small (4–5 drops per litre) with a wide safety margin. That said, more isn't necessarily better — the body absorbs what it needs. Stick to 4–5 drops for maintenance, increase to 6–8 during high-demand periods, and don't exceed 10 drops per litre.

Is it Australian made?

Yes. Manufactured in Australia. Dine-A-Chook is an Australian family business based in Queensland — we've been helping poultry keepers for over 15 years.

What if I have specific questions about my flock?
