Going away for a week — without worrying about feed?

Whether you’re heading off for a long weekend or setting up a hobby farm that runs itself, this three-pack gives you three complete Large Feeders in one box. Three separate feeding stations mean every hen — even the lowest in the pecking order — gets uncontested access to feed. Flat-rate shipping on all three. Trusted by over 50,000 Aussie chook keepers.

How does the Large Feeder 3-Pack work?

Each feeder works exactly like our Large Feeder Single — easy to refill, just turn the handle on the lid to lift it off, pour in feed, and twist it back on. Feed gravity-feeds into a hooded base opening. The hood gives your hens room to eat comfortably, but the shape stops them from flicking, raking, or billing feed onto the ground. A built-in rain hood channels water away from the opening, keeping feed dry outdoors. No moving parts, no training — your chickens start eating within minutes.

Mount each feeder independently via two steel brackets and self-tapping screws (all included). Spread three feeders across different spots in your coop and run — at one end, in the middle, under a shelter. Three locations eliminate the bottleneck that happens when ten or more hens crowd a single feeder.

What size flock is the 3-Pack for?

Three feeders cover flocks of around 10–20 hens comfortably across three feeding stations. Each holds 4.7 litres (~3.7kg of feed) — that’s roughly 11.1kg total, or about a week’s worth for 10–15 hens on quality complete pellets. For smaller flocks, three feeders extend the refill window well beyond a week — set up before you leave and come home to full, happy hens. Browse Dine-A-Chook chicken feeder range for all sizes.

Two feeders enough? The Large Feeder Twin Pack covers 8–16 hens. Need more stations for a larger setup? The Large Feeder 6-Pack gives you six stations and saves 25% per feeder landed.

What’s in the box?

Three Large Feeders with twist-on lids, 6 steel mounting brackets, 12 self-tapping screws, and an installation guide. Mounts directly to timber — ready to install, no extra parts needed.

Mounting to wire mesh? You’ll need three Wire Mesh Mounting Kits (sold separately) — one per feeder.

What feed works best with these feeders?

Works best with quality complete feed — crumble or pellets. These give your hens balanced nutrition in every bite and reduce selective eating. Grain mixes let hens pick their favourites and miss essential nutrients.

If the feed level looks low in the tray, that’s by design — it keeps feed away from edges so your hens can’t flick it out. Try the finger test: push your finger into the opening. If you can move the feed, your chickens can reach it.

Why are these feeders built to last?

Every component is injection moulded in Brisbane and assembled in Townsville — a genuine Australian made product. UV-resistant ASA plastic handles sun and rain year after year. No moving parts means nothing to jam, seize, or break. Each feeder is backed by a 3-year warranty.

Q. Is three feeders overkill for my flock?
A. Not if you have 10 or more hens. Three separate feeding stations mean every bird gets access to feed without being pushed off by dominant hens. Even for smaller flocks of 6–8, three feeders extend the refill window to well over a week — ideal if you travel or want fewer trips to the coop.
Q. How long does the feed last in three feeders?
A. Three Large Feeders hold a combined 14.1 litres — roughly 11.1kg of quality complete feed. That’s about 12 days for 10 hens, 8 days for 15, or 6 days for 20 hens on quality complete pellets. Consumption varies with weather, breed, and free-ranging time, but three feeders give most hobby-farm flocks a genuine week-away window.
Q. Triple pack or six pack — which do I need?
A. The triple pack suits flocks of 10–20 hens or setups with 2–3 pens. If you have 30 or more hens or multiple buildings, the six-pack gives you six stations and the best per-feeder value. For most hobby farms, three feeders hit the sweet spot without overcommitting.
Q. Is the 3-pack cheaper than buying three singles?
A. Yes. The three-pack saves you 8% on the sticker price compared to three Large Feeder Singles. The bigger saving comes from shipping — flat-rate shipping means you pay once for three feeders instead of three times. That brings the per-feeder landed cost down 19% compared to buying separately.
Q. Where should I position three feeders?
A. Spread them across different locations — one at each end of the run and one inside the coop is a common setup. The goal is to give every hen access to feed without competing at a single point. Mounting height: position the bottom of the opening at the back of your hen’s neck when she’s standing naturally.
Q. What feed works best with these feeders?
A. Quality complete feed — crumble or pellets — gives your hens balanced nutrition in every bite and reduces selective eating. Grain mixes let hens pick their favourites and miss essential nutrients, so a quality complete feed is the better choice. If the feed level looks low in the tray, that’s by design — the finger test: if you can move the feed in the opening, your chickens can reach it.
Q. Will these feeders stop rats?
A. The feeders are vermin-resistant, not vermin-proof. By keeping feed contained and off the ground, they remove one of the main attractants for rodents. For additional overnight protection, pair each feeder with a Closure Cap — it seals the feeding opening when rodents are most active. If you’re dealing with a persistent rodent problem, give us a call on 1800 103 326 and we can help you work through it.
