Most backyard keepers want the 59ml, not this one
This is the 946ml bulk bottle at $199.95. It holds sixteen times what the small bottle holds, and it is aimed at people running larger flocks, breeding operations and poultry clubs.
If you keep a handful of birds in the backyard, the 59ml bottle at $39.95 is almost certainly the one you are after. It is the size most people keep in the cupboard, and it lasts a long time.
It floats. That is normal.
The question we are asked more than any other. VetRx is an oil. It will not dissolve in cold water and it will sit on the surface. That is not a faulty bottle.
Use very warm water — not cold, not boiling — and stir it through.
How much do I use?
For a standard adult bird, one teaspoon of VetRx to one cup of very warm water. Stir it through, then offer it.
- Scale the amount down for bantams and smaller birds
- Mix it fresh rather than making up a large batch in advance
- Decant what you need rather than warming the whole 946ml bottle
- Always leave a supply of plain fresh water available as well
Read the label and follow the directions on it.
Four ways poultry keepers use it
| In the water | One teaspoon per cup of very warm water |
| On the feed | A few drops stirred through |
| Applied directly | A little on the comb, wattles, chest, under the wings or on the legs |
| As a warm spray | Diluted in warm water and misted over the birds or through the coop — the method the bulk size is really there for |
What is in it
- Canada Balsam
- Camphor Oil
- Origanum
- Rosemary Oil
- 3.3% alcohol U.S.P.
It is not an antibiotic and contains no active pharmaceutical. Made in the USA. Suitable for chickens, bantams, ducks, geese, turkeys and game birds.
Good husbandry comes first
- Keep the coop clean, dry and well ventilated
- Separate any bird that is unwell from the rest of the flock
- Make sure fresh water is always available
If you are worried about a bird, speak to a vet. VetRx is not a substitute for veterinary care.
