Tefen Water Pre Filter – 8 mm Hose Barb

- Inline Sediment Protection: 150-micron mesh filters out debris before it reaches your drinker system.
- Push-Fit Hose Ends: Compatible with 8 mm hose – perfect for backyard and commercial poultry systems.
- Improves Water Hygiene: Reduces sediment build-up in Lubing Cups, valves, and pipework.
- Recommended for Rainwater: Ideal for systems using tanks, rainwater or dam water as a source.
- Consumable Part: Not designed to be disassembled – replace every 6–12 months depending on water quality.
The Tefen Water Pre Filter is a simple, effective way to protect your poultry hydration system from clogs and contamination. Designed for 8 mm hose connections, this inline filter is particularly useful in rainwater-fed setups or systems drawing from tanks where organic material, dust, and sediment are present.
Cleaner Lines, Healthier Birds
Installing a pre filter before your header tank or valve helps prevent sediment from building up inside your tubing and Lubing Cups. This reduces manual cleaning and maintains a more sanitary water source for your flock. A filter also reduces the risk of performance issues, particularly in systems with multiple drinker outlets.
Quick-Connect Design
Hose barbs on each end make the filter easy to incorporate between any two sections of 8 mm hose. The filter housing unscrews without tools for quick inspection or rinsing, making maintenance a breeze even for first-time users.
Optional but Highly Recommended
While not required, we strongly recommend adding a filter to all systems using rainwater, tanks, or open reservoirs as water sources. It's a small investment that helps extend the life of your system and reduces the likelihood of leaks and clogs.

Do I really need a filter in my chicken watering system?
While not required, a pre filter is highly recommended—especially in systems using rainwater or tanks. It stops sediment and particles from entering your drinker lines, reducing cleaning and avoiding clogs in Lubing Cups or valves.
Can I clean or open this filter?
No. This Tefen filter is a sealed, disposable unit and cannot be pulled apart. It’s designed to be replaced periodically, much like a cartridge filter in household appliances.
How often should I replace the filter?
Most users should replace the filter every 6–12 months depending on water quality and sediment levels. If you're drawing from tanks or rainwater, more frequent replacement may be necessary to ensure peak performance.
Where should I install this filter?
Install the filter upstream of your drinker system—ideally directly after the Lubing Header Tank or water source. This ensures your lines and cups stay free from dirt and sediment.
Will the filter slow down water flow?
When clean, the filter allows flow rates of up to 8 L/min (2.1 GPM), which is more than sufficient for most poultry systems. Over time, reduced flow is a sign it’s time to replace the unit.
