The Tefen BSPT Pipe Bushing – ½" x ⅛" is an essential part of many poultry watering setups, allowing seamless adaptation between differing thread sizes. It’s commonly used to step down the ½" BSPT female port on the base of a Dine-A-Chook Lubing Header Tank to accept ⅛" BSPT male fittings, such as elbows or valves.
Create Reliable Adaptors
This reducer bushing is ideal when building custom poultry drinker systems that mix gravity-fed and mains pressure supply methods. By providing a strong, leak-free transition between thread sizes, it enables integration with other ⅛" BSPT Tefen fittings like elbows, nipples, or valves.
Installation Made Simple
Apply plumber’s thread tape to the male thread and tighten by hand or with a 22 mm spanner. Avoid overtightening to prevent thread distortion and ensure a reliable seal. Designed specifically for repeated use in agricultural water systems.

Where is this bushing most often used?
This reducer is typically used at the base of the Dine-A-Chook Lubing Header Tank to allow the connection of ⅛" BSPT components, such as Tefen elbows or nipples. It's also used in custom chicken watering setups requiring thread reduction.
Will this work in both pressure and gravity systems?
Yes, it’s compatible with both gravity-fed and mains pressure systems. Just remember that for Lubing Cups and nipple drinkers, the water source height should not exceed 35 cm above the outlets in gravity setups to avoid overflowing or pressure-related issues.
What sealant should I use?
Always use plumber’s thread tape on both threads for a reliable, watertight seal. Ensure surfaces are clean and free from debris before installation.
Is this compatible with metal threads?
Yes, Tefen Nylon 6-6 is designed to thread safely into metal fittings. Do not overtighten when used in brass or steel female ports to avoid damage.
