Industrial-grade nylon tubing for building larger poultry watering systems. This 10 metre roll is designed for setups where your header tank or water source is mounted further away, or where multiple drinker outlets are spaced across a longer run. One continuous length means fewer joins and fewer potential leak points.
Why Nylon Tubing?
This isn't the soft, cheap poly tubing you'll find at hardware stores. It's rigid, UV-stabilised nylon built for permanent outdoor installations. It won't degrade in the sun, won't kink under pressure, and won't need replacing in a year or two.
Works With Our Full Fittings Range
8mm outer diameter - sized to work with all Tefen barbed connectors, elbows, tees, and quick-connect fittings in our range. One system, all compatible.
Planning Tip: Keep Your Tubing Out of Direct Sun
Black tubing absorbs heat. In direct sunlight, water sitting in small-diameter hose gets hot quickly - and chickens won't drink hot water.
When planning your system:
- Run tubing in shaded areas wherever possible
- For longer runs from your water source to header tank, bury the hose underground or cover it
- Position header tanks and drums in the shade
UV-stabilised means the tubing won't degrade in the sun - but it doesn't stop the water inside from heating up. A little planning during installation saves problems later.
Installation Tip: Our Nylon Hose is Tight-Fitting by Design
The 8mm hose we supply is industrial-grade nylon tubing - not the softer PE (polyethylene) tubing you'll find elsewhere. It's more rigid, UV-stabilised, and built to last years in outdoor conditions. The trade-off? It's tight to push onto barbed Tefen fittings.
To make installation easier: Dip the end of the hose in hot water for 30-60 seconds to soften it. It will slide onto the barb much more easily while warm.
We chose this tubing because it lasts. Cheaper, softer tubing is easier to install but degrades faster in the sun. Once your nylon hose is fitted, it's on for good.

Is this hose long enough for free-range or mobile coops?
Yes. The 10 metre roll provides enough length for most free-range runs or for connecting coops that aren't near a water source. It's especially useful in flexible or mobile systems.
Does it work with mains pressure?
Yes – when used with regulated mains pressure and TEFEN fittings, this hose can safely deliver water to drinkers and nipples. It's also perfect for gravity-fed systems with header tanks or drums.
How do I secure the hose to fittings?
Use TEFEN quick-connect fittings for best results. If using barbed fittings, add a cable tie or hose clamp to ensure a leak-free connection under pressure.
Why is the hose black?
The black poly tubing is UV-resistant and helps prevent algae growth by blocking light. It's a superior choice to clear hose for outdoor watering systems.
