The Safer Way to Raise Baby Chicks
Looking for a better alternative to a heat lamp? The 15W Dine-A-Chook Chicken Heat Plate keeps your chicks warm naturally, safely and efficiently.
This brooder heat plate provides radiant warmth from above, just like a mother hen. It uses far less power than a heat lamp and doesn't emit harsh light that disrupts sleep or overstimulates young birds.
Why Choose a Chicken Heat Plate?
- Safety First: No exposed bulbs, no risk of fire – unlike old-style heat lamps.
- Energy Efficient: Only 15 watts of power for reliable warmth with minimal energy use.
- More Natural: Chicks self-regulate under the plate, moving closer or further away as needed.
- Ideal for Small Brooders: 25 x 25 cm square design is compact yet powerful.
How to Use
- Position the plate in one corner of your brooder setup.
- Pre-warm before placing chicks underneath.
- Adjust the legs to suit chick height – from 5 to 15 cm.
- Observe behaviour: cold = huddling and peeping; hot = panting or avoiding.
- As chicks grow, raise the height of the plate gradually.
- For easier cleaning and to protect your heat plate, we recommend adding the matching Acrylic Protective Cover (25x25 cm).
This 15W plate is suitable for up to 20 chicks and works for all poultry types, including bantams, quail, ducks and geese. Best used in environments above 10°C – we recommend indoor setups for early brooding.

How many chicks can the 15W heat plate support?
This model is suitable for up to 20 chicks. It provides gentle radiant warmth and is ideal for small backyard flocks or compact brooder setups.
Is this chicken heat plate safe to use indoors?
Yes. Unlike traditional heat lamps, this heat plate is fire-safe and emits no harsh light. It's perfect for indoor brooders and smaller spaces.
Does the top of the plate get hot?
No. The top of the plate stays cool to the touch, making it safe for curious chicks. The heat is concentrated underneath, mimicking a mother hen’s warmth.
Can I use this heat plate with other types of poultry?
Absolutely. It's suitable for chickens, quail, bantams, ducks, and geese. Just adjust the height to suit the size of your chicks.
Do I need the acrylic cover?
The optional Acrylic Protective Cover helps protect the plate from droppings and makes cleaning much easier. It's highly recommended for extending product lifespan.
What are the power requirements?
This 15W plate comes fitted with an Australian plug and is very energy efficient. It requires a standard 240V outlet and uses a fraction of the power of a heat lamp.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. This heat plate includes a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects.
